Recently, the "Barcelona Maersk," the largest dual-fuel container ship under Maersk, berthed at Songyu Terminal. This marks the first methanol dual-fuel container ship to call at Xiamen Port this year. The "Barcelona Maersk" measures 350 meters in length and 56 meters in width, with a maximum capacity of 17,480 TEUs, and is deployed on Maersk's Asia-Europe route. During its maiden call at Xiamen Port, the vessel handled 3,627.5 TEUs at Songyu Terminal, primarily carrying high-value goods such as apparel, stone materials, furniture, auto parts, batteries, and LCD displays. Compared to traditional vessels, methanol dual-fuel container ships can improve container loading efficiency, enhance fuel efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions, aligning with the trend of green shipping. This signifies a solid step forward for Xiamen Port in expanding green shipping cooperation and building a green, low-carbon hub port.
