Recently, a shipment of containers arrived in Xiamen by train from Wuhan and was successfully loaded onto an international container ship at the Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal in the Free Trade Zone. The ship set sail for European ports, including the Port of Felixstowe in the UK, marking the official launch of the "Wuhan-Xiamen-Europe" sea-rail intermodal service. This transportation mode, which seamlessly connects rail and maritime routes, provides a more convenient shipping option for the central region to connect with the Maritime Silk Road. The Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal is currently accelerating the construction of the sea-rail intermodal project, which is one of the first key projects in the national integration of transportation and logistics development. It also features China's first rail-accessible vertical terminal, with the railway line entering directly into the terminal operation area, just 70 meters away from the waterfront.
